One focus technique(Pomodoro) is not enough

Again, it seemed like you had pushed yourself to the maximum of your capabilities to finish everything you had to, but you did not. So tomorrow, it is inevitable that your rest day must become your work day. And that is how the never-ending cycle begins between you and your tasks- rest is not much a rest, work is not much a work. You can not live like that anymore, so you ask yourself, what is wrong? You analyzed yourself and concluded that, during my working hours, I am not working as I should. You search for some focus techniques that seemed to work for everyone else. At first, it did change you, but after a few weeks, it does not, and again, you are back at your never-ending cycle again from which it seems you will never break out. So does the problem lie in the technique or in you?

Focus is the key component to a successful life

Every person on this planet has at least once heard it: ” Put your distractions away and you will do things more efficiently.” Everything seems great if you have everything in order- if it’s working hours, you simply work; if it’s resting hours, you simply rest. You even witnessed it while you used some type of focus technique; if work is without distractions, you rest more and do more. We know that even your favourite entrepreneurs like Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, or others have stated some type of benefit if you work distraction-free. And even medical publications show the benefit of that. One of the publications stated that if you have been distracted for at least 30-45 seconds, your resumption lag is approximately 3.8 seconds, and 1 second is added to that every 4 seconds after 45 seconds. Think this way, you have been distracted for 5 minutes, your resumption lag is 1 minute 6 seconds. Now take away that minute from your rest day and keep taking away more and more and more every time you are distracted by something or someone. It eventually can add up to hours. But here is the crazy part, other research showed that our own thoughts, in other words, inner distractions, are way more ” distracting” than outer ones like social media, or another person interrupting. You and I know that there were times when you worked with your client or on your assignment, and just started wondering what IF. Your own brain is distracting you; other things do it as well, but successful entrepreneurs say to focus, PhDs say to do it as well, and even you felt that amazing feeling of being focused during working hours, and every other thing just fell into its place. So it means this has to be a pathway to your successful life. But the technique of how to focus on the internet hasn’t taken root in your mind, and you just stopped using it.

One does not fill all

There are tons of different personalities in this world today. It can vary from a fast-paced worker with tons of breaks needed after a short time, with his strength being less distracted, to a person who works way slower and longer, but his strength is that he can work way longer. We identified the 6 most common types of personalities who work on their computers. First personality is an ADHD, predominantly hyperactive-impulsive type of person( of course, you can counter the argument that it is a disorder, but a disorder can shift a person’s behavior a lot). He works fast with a lot of pace, but needs tons of breaks, can’t focus on one task long time of a period. Second is ADHD, predominantly inattentive type- almost as same as the first one, but slow to start, gets tired quickly, and daydreams. Anxious type- overthinks way too much, fears struggling. Perfectionist- starts only when everything is perfect, has way too many delays. Type B personality- calm, passive, slow, but can sustain focus way more than an ADHD type of person. Sensitive person- easily distracted by his own thoughts, people walking around him, or a simple light. This was just the most common type of people. But now imagine if none of that was you, even more personalities can shine. This leads to one simple argument- one technique just can not and will not simply work for everyone. Take, for example, the Pomodoro technique. Yes, this technique is quite unique and works half the time, but the best fit for this is ADHD type of people. Imagine fitting the Pomodoro technique into a type B personality. Of course, this can work, but it is equivalent to trying to fit a hexagon shape into a square shape. It is not the best option, a square shape needs… A square shape.

We think of concentration as hard work.

But even if you find the right type of focus technique, for example, 5 hours per day of deep work every other day, that is far from over. We analyzed a trend that is happening around people who are trying to achieve their goals( more messages sent, more revenue, more clients, you name it), they are doing it way too fast. Deep focus and being able to keep it all session long requires controlling your mind, a habit. We try and implement that habit far too fast and far too hard, which leads our brains to simply reject the beauty of that habit. For example, think of your brain as a gum. If you pull it too hard and too fast, it will break almost instantly, but if you do it slowly and gently, you can stretch it. But how do you know how to implement that right habit so you do not go back to your never-ending cycle

  3. Personalization

Triple P. At the end of each day, be precise about not what you did, during your working hours, it does not matter, but be precise about how you felt when you were doing your work- was it exhausting or too easy? By now, you should know the capabilities of your brain and what type of personality you have. Now personalize it- simply implement the working-resting hours in a way that fits you the best. Now repeat it, do not move forward too fast. Perfect it when you have completed all your sessions without any skips or feeling that it’s too hard work; then it is time to move on to the next chapter.

Get to know your working time, get to know your resting time, and earn more.

So now it is the most exciting part of them all. Everyone wants some type of award for doing something great. Yes, to control your mind during working hours, to control your concentration to maintain focus it is the greatest thing, as we already mentioned. And yes, YES you can monetize pretty damn fast and good, and your 50K a year, 100k a year is not that far away. Your ability to reach your first destination working on your computer is reachable in a few months. That feeling of working too much and earning too little is always draining, especially when you can not even rest properly. Everything person can reach something they wish for many years, but they must know the symptoms of why they cannot. And for almost everyone, it is the lack of concentration and the ability to control their mind. But not every disease can be cured with one pill.
